In rural Odisha, where access to safe drinking water was once a distant dream, Spring Health India has built a model that blends innovation, sustainability, and social change. Founded on January 11, 2010 and led by Mr. Jacob Mathew, Audrey Selian, and Sandeep Roy Chaudhary, the company has grown into a profitable, purpose-driven enterprise operating 273 water kiosks and delivering clean, potable water to 28,000 families every day.
From Corporate Boardrooms to Rural Doorsteps
At 57, Sandeep Roy Chaudhary looks back at a career transformation inspired by the late Dr. Paul Polak and Chairman Jacob Mathew. Moving from the corporate sector to social entrepreneurship wasn’t immediate – it took a year of reflection before he committed. Today, that leap has touched thousands of lives while safeguarding the environment.

Green Technology for Blue Gold
Spring Health’s purification system uses Chlorine Dioxide powered entirely by solar energy. Unlike RO systems, it produces zero water wastage and protects groundwater reserves, yet delivers water as pure as any advanced filtration technology. The doorstep delivery model frees rural women from long walks to fetch water, creating time for education, income, and family.
Impact Beyond Hydration
- Jobs & incomes for rural entrepreneurs
- Gender equality – 33% of entrepreneurs are women
- Climate action – 30,000 tonnes of carbon credits generated annually
- Better health – fewer waterborne illnesses, more productive workdays
Resilience Through Adversity
The journey was far from easy – months without salaries, sceptical investors, and the challenge of convincing villagers to pay for water. Sandeep himself went unpaid for over two years. His belief: never give up – the results will come.
What Makes Spring Health Unique
- Eco-friendly, non-RO purification
- Door-to-door delivery making safe water aspirational
- Entrepreneurship-based model sharing value locally
- Gold Standard Certification for environmental and social impact
Looking Ahead

With 600,000 Indian villages still lacking safe water, the growth potential is immense. The goal: take this proven model national – and global.
