Rishabh Luniya And Associates was established in 2010 with a core belief in continuously pushing boundaries, through material innovation and by reimagining the program, towards creating Avant-Garde solutions. They are a multidisciplinary firm with a range of ongoing projects including residential, hospitality (hotels & resorts), institutional, landscape, corporate interiors, and redevelopment projects.
Design is to listen, observe, understand, sympathize, empathize, synthesize, and glean insights. The team at RLA creates lifestyles and not just spaces to live in.
They firmly believe that recognizing the need is the primary condition for design; therefore, their designs are more client and context-based rather than imposing a signature style of ours. They are a team, working towards creating a better future for all.
B.Arch. From M.V.P College of Architecture, Nasik. “Chasing excellence with every project”, The love of challenges and the quest to be the best of the best is what drives Raipur-based Rishabh Luniya of Rishabh Luniya and Associates. An architect’s job, besides making their client’s dreams come true in a tangible way, is to solve problems, these problems take various forms such as the design of the space being conceptualized, the way it will be built, the materials that will be used to build it, the voids that will contrast the built structure, the constraints of plot size, space and budget, the aspirations of the client, the design philosophies of the architect, etc.
With every project, the architect must navigate through these problems, as per the client’s requirements, within their budget and yet aligned to the architects’ school of thought. For Rishabh Luniya, with many residential and commercial projects in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, it is this problem-solving aspect of architecture that resonates with his affinity for challenges.
“Right from my college days, I was always keen on taking up new challenges. As an architect, I have the liberty of approaching challenges with a creative mindset, and being innovative to arrive at the right solutions to deal with them.” He explains.
Speaking of the values that underscore his practice, he says, “I am a firm believer in transformative design that connects with people, communicates values, and is conscious of the
environment. Our practice is proud to have realized our clients’ aspirations and ambitions by carefully crafting the design with integrated thinking, advanced technology, and above all, keeping the clients’ visions at the heart of it all.”
Of course, Rishabh has had his fair share of difficult clients in the initial stage of his practice, but these demanding clients helped shape his skills and capabilities better.
“You can learn more from difficult situations than you learn in architecture books! When you have demanding clients, it motivates you to push your limitations and you often end up surprising yourself. You find yourself experimenting and coming up with designs and solutions that would have otherwise never taken shape.”
He also believes that he owes much of the credit for the success of his practice to his family, and his team. “My family has been incredibly supportive of me, and my team is my greatest strength. They are a bunch of very talented people who all bring out the best in each other, thereby making the practice strive for continuous improvement. And we won’t stop till RLA becomes the go-to name in the field of designing residential villas. We have a long way to go, but we are determined to achieve our goal. I also intend to start my own furniture business,
which again is a very challenging field and has piqued my interest for that very reason, “he says, signing off.
Set on a quarter acre, the Tea Trees abode is a farmhouse that reveals itself amidst the lush green areas of Raipur. The core value here ensures openness and free flow of spaces with existing nature; the ten trees around which this farmhouse is designed.
The ground floor entails an interior swimming pool along with an activity room to engage in varied fun happenings. Designed to help enjoy the landscape to its utmost while giving privacy was paramount.
Transitional spaces divide the leisure and private areas, each having its separate vista. The entrance is curated with lily ponds alongside to enhance the experience of a threshold paving way for something better.
As one steps inside from the main door, with a serene view of the landscape in the front; the play of shadow and light from the southern side quickly catches the attention. This naturally lit pool area encompasses an interesting aspect of how nature engages with the most transparent yet elegant spaces.
With a quick stroll around, constantly changing views of the outdoors as well as the building unfolds; as we move towards the activity area and upwards with a wooden finished staircase surrounding a huge plant.
The design uses a restrained palette of exposed brick, cast-in-situ concrete panels, stone, and wood. As experienced from inside the house this natural palette brings an enhanced sense of connection with the landscape.
Understanding the relationship, one wants to experience within the spaces, the furniture layout in the elongated living + dining area was planned to accommodate larger groups and also cater to individual/smaller groups without intimidating them by visually connecting them to the exterior green farmland.
The texture is everything when it comes to nailing down a rustic aesthetic. The epitome of a farmhouse relies heavily on wood, natural fabrics, and raw materials. The bedroom ticks the boxes for each of these things and looks truly inviting. The quilt, rug, and throws all contribute to the homestead vibes, but the lamp and bed frame pull it into a more modern rendition of this style.
“An open floor plan, natural aesthetics, textured spotlights and a sense of warmth” perfectly defined the Ten trees abode designed by Rishabh Luniya and associates.
