Cubit Collective – Designing Spaces That Live and Breathe

On Bengaluru’s Residency Road, Cubit Collective has carved a niche for interiors that are as technically sound as they are visually captivating. At the helm are siblings Vrinda K Murthy and Vivek Yerkadithaya—two professionals with very different strengths but one shared mission: to create spaces where beauty, functionality, and harmony meet.

Vrinda’s connection to design began over a decade ago. Then working in the tech sector, she made the bold choice to leave it all behind and join her mother, Supriya, in running a boutique interior design firm. Graduating from R.V. College in 2013, Vrinda brought a fresh, forward-thinking approach—keen to introduce scalable, modern design solutions and to work with the latest materials and construction techniques. In the years that followed, her work grew from modest residences to complex, high-end interiors that demanded both creative vision and technical precision.

Five years ago, Vivek joined the business, bringing with him the strategic discipline of an MBA from the Indian School of Business. Where Vrinda envisioned and designed, Vivek streamlined operations, built structure, and strengthened project delivery. Together, they became a seamless leadership duo—Vrinda driving design innovation, Vivek ensuring flawless execution. In April 2023, their combined expertise took shape as Cubit Collective, a brand that blends artistry and engineering in equal measure.

Their style is firmly rooted in Contemporary Modern Interiors, often infused with biophilic elements to bring nature into the heart of living spaces. Whether it’s sunlight filtering through open layouts, indoor greenery, or the use of natural textures, the goal is the same—to create environments that feel restorative and alive. “Peaceful and harmonious living” is more than a design aim for them; it’s the philosophy that guides every decision.

What sets Cubit Collective apart is its rare command of both the creative and technical sides of interior design. Too often, striking concepts lose their edge in execution. Vrinda and Vivek close that gap with deep technical knowledge, manufacturing experience, and an engineering-led focus on build quality. They take time—sometimes months—refining plans until they integrate seamlessly with a client’s lifestyle. From material research to advanced construction techniques, their approach ensures that every detail is both beautiful and achievable.

Over the years, they’ve completed everything from budget-friendly projects to ultra-luxury transformations, but the human connection remains constant. One particularly memorable project was for a couple in their 80s and 90s, starting anew in a different home. Designing their “nest” became an intimate journey filled with insights—not only into design but also into resilience, change, and the joy of new beginnings at any age.

For Vrinda and Vivek, design also carries an environmental responsibility. They advocate for sustainable and green architecture, seeing it not as a passing trend but as an essential practice for both designers and clients. Looking ahead, they aim to make bespoke high-end interiors more accessible to the upper middle class, a move they believe will redefine market expectations.

Their journey hasn’t been without challenges. At one point, the studio faced a creative plateau—designs felt too familiar, and inspiration was waning. They tackled it head-on, introducing internal design challenges, curating a rotating “Inspiration Wall,” attending industry events, and reimagining their own workspace to encourage collaboration and experimentation. These shifts not only re-energized the team’s creativity but also reignited the studio’s culture.

Vrinda credits much of her entrepreneurial inspiration to Sarah Sham, a designer-entrepreneur she admires for her ability to scale a business with grace, humility, and focus. Her advice to aspiring designers is as direct as it is meaningful: “Stay curious, stay grounded, never stop learning—and above all, design with integrity.”

Today, Cubit Collective represents the best of both worlds—design that excites the eye and execution that stands the test of time. With a commitment to technical excellence, sustainable practices, and deeply personal client relationships, Vrinda and Vivek are building more than interiors. They are shaping environments that tell stories, evoke emotion, and elevate everyday living.
