Enhancing Living Standards through Creative and Affordable Design Solutions

This Ichalkaranji based interior designing firm offers the best solutions with a customer centric approach. Let’s find out what went behind creating such amazing venture.

Born in Rajasthan, Komal Choudhary and her family shifted to Ichalkaranji soon after. Her father who hailed from fa arming background, had to struggle a lot to start a business in a small town of Ichalkaranji in Maharashtra after my birth. He worked hard day and night just to pay for kids’ schools and their daily needs. Seeing his dedication and hard work, Komal decided that she would never let her father down and make him proud by achieving all her dreams.

Rajasthan is a place where education for girls was not considered mandatory. It was a society where girls were not encouraged to take up higher education, and people looked at them with a weird look when they tried to do so. However, Komal was fortunate enough to be born in a family that believed in education and was determined to give her and her siblings the best education possible.

She had keen interest in Art and DIY, and loved painting and being creative. She was a studious and extroverted person who loved to explore new things. Later she decided to become an interior designer because she believed that it would be a challenging yet exciting job that would allow her to polish her skills every day and explore new possibilities. She also had a natural leadership quality and always wanted people to acknowledge her for her talent. With this in mind, she started her own firm in 2019. With hard work, determination and support from family, she established herself as a successful interior designer and businesswoman.

Silver Swastik Interiors specialises in residentials, commercial office, retail shops, café and restaurants. It has the potential to make a positive impact on society by providing creative and affordable design solution and by improving living standards, promoting sustainability, and supporting the arts.

According to Komal, “The USP of our design is we provide creative and high-quality spaces for our clients within their given budget, while respecting their financial limitations. Additionally, we offer DIY art as a gift which adds a personal touch and creates lasting memories for our clients.” Nature elements and Vaastu principles are also incorporated to create positive and harmonious interior spaces. Overall, it’s a customer-centric approach that combines affordability, quality, personalization, and positivity in the interior design solutions offered.

After completing BCom and Interior Designing degrees from GLS University and INIFD respectively in Ahmedabad, Komal further enhanced her skills by completing an Interior Styling course from LST University in London, UK. Following her studies, she gained valuable experience through internships and got a job in Kolhapur. Despite living in Ichalkaranji, she chose to commute daily by local ST bus to Kolhapur for the job, as she enjoyed facing challenges and expanding her skills. She believes, her job in Kolhapur offered more opportunities to grow and develop in her field as compared to opportunities available in Ichalkaranji.

After getting married in May 2019, she had to quit her job and decided to start her own firm. Every business requires some investments but she struggled with no financial help and started freelancing with lower fees for interior services. Eventually, she completed a commercial and a residential project and started getting more inquiries. Then the pandemic hit, and to generate passive income, she started a YouTube channel for home makeovers, focusing on DIY tips and techniques. The pandemic caused many clients to stop spending, and she lost some projects. Despite being pregnant, she continued to work until the second lockdown occurred. During that time, she worked on marketing and online projects. After delivery, she returned to my work just after one month. Despite setbacks, she remained passionate and dedicated to her work.

She feels that identifying opportunities in the market requires a combination of research, observation, trends, creativity, and a willingness to take risks. Nowadays digital marketing is the biggest opportunity for every business. Pinterest and Instagram are best for designers to be in trend and publish their projects. Further, she thinks, being extroverted and able to make clients feel comfortable is a great asset in building relationships with customers and fostering trust. Maintaining a calm demeanour in front of clients is also important and this is also an admirable quality, as it helps to create a positive and professional environment. Overall, her combination of extroversion, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence certainly helped her to be a unique and successful entrepreneur.

Sustainable and green architecture or interior designs can offer numerous benefits, including reducing energy costs, improving indoor air quality, and promoting a healthier and more sustainable way of living. It is likely that this trend will continue to grow as more people recognize the importance of sustainable building practices. Even she applies green interiors in her designing which directly helps the clients in many ways.

Komal thinks interior designers need to have a deep understanding of their clients’ preferences, lifestyle, and personality to create designs that reflect their unique style and meet their practical needs. Understanding client psychology and requirements is just as important as technical skills and knowledge in interior design. It helps to create designs that are not only visually appealing but also practical and functional.
Before signing off, she shares her experience and tells us that achieving a balance between personal and professional life is essential for overall success and well-being. Interior designers, like anyone in a demanding profession, may face challenges in finding this balance, but it is crucial to prioritize self-care and work-life balance to avoid burnout and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
