As the Founder of Unicorn Vending, a tech-driven automated retail company, Vivek has successfully revolutionized the way India consumes snacks and beverages in workplaces and public spaces. The spark for Unicorn Vending came when Vivek noticed how employees in offices often relied on unhealthy snacks or skipped meals due to the unavailability of hygienic, nutritious options. “We live in an era of digital convenience, yet access to healthy food at work remained a challenge,” he recalls. This realization planted the seed of Unicorn Vending in 2023, with an initial investment of ₹10 lakh.
Building a business in a sector relatively untapped in India was no easy feat. Automated retail was still a new concept, and convincing corporates and institutions to embrace vending machines required persistence. “People were skeptical—would the machines work? Would they remain stocked? Could they deliver consistent quality?” Vivek shares. Determined to prove the potential of this model, he focused on building a robust operational foundation—reliable suppliers, efficient logistics, and a service-first mindset.
Today, Unicorn Vending operates over 120 machines across high-footfall locations in India, serving thousands of consumers daily. Each machine is a modern marvel, equipped with real-time inventory tracking, cashless payment options, and contactless access, ensuring a seamless user experience. The product range is carefully curated, featuring healthy, branded snacks and beverages, catering to the growing demand for wellness-oriented consumption.
What sets Unicorn apart is its impact beyond business metrics. By prioritizing health and convenience, the company contributes to improved workplace productivity and public health. Additionally, it supports local suppliers, creating consistent revenue streams for small businesses, and generates employment opportunities in operations, maintenance, and logistics.
Unicorn’s success has not gone unnoticed. The company earned accolades such as the Blindwink National Business Award in 2025 and was recognized among the Top 10 Innovative Retail Startups in India by the Retail Excellence Forum in 2024. For Vivek, these honors signify more than just recognition—they validate the belief that purpose-driven entrepreneurship can create lasting change.
Looking ahead, Vivek’s ambitions are global. Unicorn plans to expand pan-India, integrate AI-driven personalized product recommendations, and eventually explore international markets. “We’re building not just a company, but a movement towards accessible, healthy living,” he says with pride.
