The founder of Yugen Design Space is Vaishnavi T, who has a deep artistic background and a passion for architecture. With seven years of on-field experience and a lifetime exposure to engineering and construction from her civil engineer father, Vaishnavi decided to open her own venture to provide clients with top-notch design services. Her childhood experiences of visiting construction sites with her father sparked her interest in architecture, which she views as a blend of science and art.
Yugen Design Space aims to create spaces that make people feel at home and enhance their lifestyles. The firm believes that spaces have the power to influence energy and emotions, and they strive to create designs that bring about a sense of grounding and peace. Yugen’s fundamental goal is to create “zeal-like experiences” for clients and involve them in the design journey, helping them visualize and realize their design aspirations.
Currently, Yugen Design Space is expanding its services and working towards establishing two additional verticals. One vertical will focus on turnkey architecture and construction, while the other will be a bespoke artistic store for decor. The firm has also made progress in material configurations for construction, which is in the patent process. According to Vaishnavi, holistic architecture plays a vital role in building a new dimension where the experience of both the planet and the soul are intertwined. She emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices and leaving a better planet for future generations.
Vaishnavi draws inspiration from renowned architects Zaha Hadid and Santiago Calatrava, who are known for making bold design statements. Like any entrepreneur, Vaishnavi has faced challenges in her journey, particularly when clients fail to appreciate the value of professional design. Building the right team with aligned thinking has also been a learning curve for her, considering the significance of mental health in the current social evolution.
What sets Vaishnavi apart as an entrepreneur is her eagerness to learn, grow, and expand. She finds inspiration in each project she completes and strives to continually improve. Yugen Design Space has already gained recognition in the industry, receiving awards such as “Upcoming & Promising Interior Designer of the Year, Karnataka for Residential Projects” in 2021 and 2022, as well as the “Architecture & Interior Design Excellence Awards & Conference.” In 2022, Vaishnavi herself was honored as the “Trendsetter Women Interior Designer and Entrepreneur of the Year, Karnataka for Outstanding Design Consultancy” and received “The Great Indian Entrepreneurship Business, Design & Startup Awards.”
