For Tanvir Hussain, founder of Inspire Inside Interior Design, his path to establishing his own firm in 2015 was guided by his lifelong love for art and architecture. His passion for creating spaces that go beyond surface beauty, focusing instead on how design can enhance the lives of those who experience it, led him to pursue a career that merges creativity with functionality.

Tanvir’s fascination with design began in his childhood, when he would be drawn to the emotional impact that different environments had—whether it was the intimate feel of a well-designed home or the grandeur of architectural landmarks. His interest in design magazines, which he discovered at railway stations, further sparked his curiosity about the interior design world, offering him insights into how spaces could be transformed.

Tanvir recalls, “I realized that my design vision was distinct, and it felt like my calling to bring that vision into reality.” His desire to make a positive impact on the world, combined with his passion, motivated him to start his own firm. Today, Inspire Inside Interior Design is a thriving business, with Tanvir leading a dedicated team of 35 professionals who help bring his design ideas to life.

Since its founding in 2015, Inspire Inside has completed over 25 residential projects, alongside a wide array of unconventional and distinctive assignments. These include music studios, container homes, designer rooftops, temples, and restaurants. The firm’s designs reflect Tanvir’s focus on a human-centered approach, combining beauty, functionality, and emotional resonance to create spaces that enhance well-being.

“I believe that design should be about more than just aesthetics. It’s about creating spaces that enrich the lives of those who live in them,” Tanvir says. His firm specializes in understated luxury, architectural precision, and customized design solutions for both residential and commercial spaces, catering to a wide range of clients with varying needs.

Like many entrepreneurs, Tanvir faced his fair share of challenges in the early days of his business. Tight deadlines, demanding clients, and managing multiple projects at once were just some of the hurdles he encountered. “There was a time when managing everything was overwhelming, and I found myself battling burnout,” Tanvir admits. Additionally, dealing with clients who wanted high-end designs within strict budget constraints required creative problem-solving.

Despite these challenges, Tanvir’s unwavering passion for design and his commitment to excellence allowed him to persevere. “Every challenge was an opportunity to learn and grow,” he reflects, underscoring how important it is to find balance in both creativity and practical execution.

At Inspire Inside, the team works across a variety of project types, including luxury residential spaces, music studios, and more experimental projects like container homes and rooftop gardens. What sets Tanvir’s firm apart is its ability to blend practicality with elegance, ensuring that every project not only looks beautiful but also serves the specific needs of the client.

With the rise of remote work and changing lifestyles, Tanvir recognizes the growing need for versatile spaces that integrate home, office, and leisure areas. “People want spaces that work for them, and we’re here to design environments that are adaptable to their changing needs,” he says. As sustainability becomes an increasingly important consideration in design, Tanvir is committed to integrating eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient practices into his work. “We strive to reduce the environmental impact of every project,” Tanvir explains. Whether it’s using natural lighting or optimizing ventilation, he ensures that his designs are both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally conscious.

One of the core principles at Inspire Inside is fostering strong relationships with clients. Tanvir believes that understanding a client’s personal style, preferences, and needs is just as important as technical expertise. “The design process is a collaboration. We listen, understand, and translate their vision into a functional and beautiful space,” he shares.

One project that stands out to Tanvir is a residential design for Sourav Das and Anindita Poddar, where the close connection between designer and client led to a sophisticated, personalized design. Another memorable project is a container resort with a glass house designed for Dr. Debb Basu, blending modern design with nature in an innovative way.

For Tanvir, starting his own business meant gaining creative freedom and control over his vision. “I wanted the ability to create spaces that truly reflect my design sensibility,” he says. While managing a team and multiple projects has been challenging, his extroverted nature, patience, and strong communication skills have played a pivotal role in his success.

“Teamwork is crucial. It’s important to motivate your team, build a positive work culture, and have fun,” he explains.

Tanvir’s advice to aspiring designers is simple: “Trust your vision, keep learning, and enjoy the process. Each project is a chance to grow, and every challenge is an opportunity to improve.”

Looking ahead, Inspire Inside continues to grow, with plans to expand into cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. By focusing on sustainability, wellness, and innovative design, Tanvir is positioning his firm for continued success and impact on the design world.
